Rules on Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, informal, non-formal) |
In higher education institutions, recognition of previous formal (formal) learning is carried out vertically, horizontally and within-university transfers within the scope of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer between Associate and Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions" determined by the Council of Higher Education. Since the recognition process of non-formal certificate-based or experience-based (informal and non-formal) learning outside of formal education institutions in Turkey has not yet been put into practice, recognition of previous learning is being initiated. If students who have registered to other higher education universities in Turkey or abroad where they have previously studied apply within the first week, their credit and grade transfer requests are evaluated by the relevant education unit's board of directors and a decision is made once and covering the entire education. |

Program Profiles |
Iğdır University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing has started accepting students in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Our department, which provides four-year undergraduate education, aims to provide education by approaching the current nursing education in our country with a different understanding. As in all professions that work with people and focus on people, the knowledge of social sciences, behavioral sciences and basic medical sciences is used in nursing. In addition, today, the nursing discipline is progressing towards developing its own theories and becoming a professional. For this purpose, it aims to train individuals who can look at health problems holistically, adopt humanistic values and produce scientific knowledge-based solutions. In this context, the vision of our department is to be a leader at the national level by providing continuous development in nursing education, and its mission is to train leader nurses who combine scientific knowledge, ethical knowledge and a humanistic approach and who can create changes in the field of health care in the future. In line with these views, there are differences that distinguish our curriculum from other nursing education programs. One of these is that it has created a mixture of empirical, aesthetic and ethical ways of knowing that form the basis of nursing with an educational sciences model. The second difference is the compulsory and elective courses that we have carefully placed in the program in order to eliminate the lack of self-care that we observe in our society and the deficiencies in nurse-patient communication that we generally observe in our colleagues. The third important difference of the program is that nursing care is based on the understandings of nursing care theorists instead of the medical model. We expect this educational program, which is a first in our country with these features, to be an example and a reference. |
