History: Iğdır University Presidency's department, major program opening proposals within its universities were examined in the Higher Education Council meeting dated 29.01.2020 and the opening of the specified department within the said University Nursing specified in section 7/d-2 registered with Law No. 2880 of Law No. 2547, there are suitable departments numbered 75850160-101.03.01-E.10592 dated 10.02.2020. With the decision of the Council of Higher Education, the Nursing Department started student activities in the fall semester of 2020-2021. After gaining students with a quota of 60 Turkish students and 40 foreign students, the Nursing Department started education with 75 students, 62 Turkish students and 13 foreign students.
Department Program Outcomes:
- Basic Nursing Knowledge and Practice: Students are divided into theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of certification. They effectively plan, implement and evaluate nursing care at individual, family and community levels.
- Recognizing and Managing Health Problems: Has the ability to identify physiological, psychological and social health problems, presents appropriate diagnoses for these problems and develops solution suggestions.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: They play an active role in the patient care process through multidisciplinary collaboration with the health services team. They increase patient standards and care standards in harmony with different health professionals.
- Ethical Principles and Legal Responsibilities: They act in accordance with professional ethical rules and legal responsibilities. They observe patient rights and respect patient confidentiality and dignity.
- Critical Thinking and Decision Making: By using critical thinking and problem-solving methods, you can allocate and support rapid and effective patient care.
- Evidence-Based Practices: Provides formal care and increases health care efforts by following scientific research and evidence-based practices.
- Communication and Empathy Skills: Communicates effectively with patients, their relatives and the healthcare team, is an empathetic therapist. Is culturally sensitive and provides patient-centered care.
- Health Education and Consultancy: provides health education for individuals and groups, and offers consultancy services on health options and choices.
- Technology and Information Management: Collects, analyzes and shares patient data effectively using technologies and information management systems used in healthcare services.
- Leadership and Management Skills: They play an active role in sponsorship support by using health management and administration features.
- Professional Development and Lifelong Learning: They are open to innovations by continuing their professional development. They follow up-to-date information in their fields of formality by adopting the concept of lifelong learning.
- Crisis and Emergency Management: Coordinates and implements effective Officialdom care where disaster, emergency and crisis management are prevalent.
Language of Education / Type: The language of education at Iğdır University Nursing Department is Turkish. The program, the characteristics of the structure, the courses are given in face-to-face education. There are currently no distance education or second education options. The department, international freedoms; However, education is not provided in two languages (Turkish and English). In the following terms, the program is planned to continue with bilingual education options or additional language support for foreign rates in line with the internationalization target.
Infrastructure: Iğdır University Nursing Department has a strong technical and physical infrastructure that provides practical as well as summary theoretical knowledge. This infrastructure supports both education and research activities and enables them to gain professional competence.
The Nursing Department is equipped with a Simulation Laboratory that offers different options that can be found in clinical practice . In this laboratory, patient scenarios with procedures are created and analyzed, and treatment interventions can be learned and applied safely. The simulation laboratory is used to manage critical situations and improve decision making.
Simulation Laboratory:
Clinical Skills Laboratory: The basic credit features of the change can be developed. The Clinical Skills Laboratory is endowed with modern devices. In this laboratory, a list of basic clinical applications such as blood collection, dressing, wicking techniques, and patient care procedures are taught in practice. Students begin their clinical internships more equipped by gaining the necessary data here before encountering real people.
Laboratory and Equipment: There are various laboratories equipped with in-line medical devices and features, as well as simulation and clinical skills laboratories. They obtain detailed information about the human body in basic science laboratories such as anatomy and physiology, and this information is reinforced with clinical applications.
Library and Computer Access: Department licenses, library with a wide range of health sciences resources, and access to online databases are available. There are also computer laboratories in the library for students to do research and develop their projects.
