About Us

The proposals of Iğdır University Presidency regarding opening departments, majors and programs within the university were examined in the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 29.01.2020 and in accordance with article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880, the opening of the Nursing Department within the said university was deemed appropriate with the letter dated 10.02.2020 and numbered 75850160-101.03.01-E.10592.

With the decision of the Council of Higher Education, the Department of Nursing has started accepting students as of the fall semester of 2020-2021. After the Department of Nursing was entitled to accept students with a quota of 60 Turkish students and 40 foreign students, it started education with 75 students, 62 Turkish students and 13 foreign students.

Our department aims to train nurses who use evidence-based knowledge to improve the quality of health services and develop public health, who think and question critically, who respect human rights and values, and who have the ability to learn throughout their lives.

Our department offers a 4-year undergraduate education, during which our students take theoretical and practical courses related to the nursing profession, as well as courses in basic sciences and social sciences. The practices of professional courses are carried out in various areas such as hospitals, community health centers, rehabilitation centers, schools, workplaces and nursing homes, in accordance with the course content. In order for our students to adapt to their professional lives more easily after graduation and to provide quality care, they perform professional practice in various institutions and hospitals in their final year. 

In our department, education is provided with our expert academic staff. We will continue to strengthen our academic staff in order to respond to the developing health needs. We aim to provide our students with more academic and research opportunities by opening new departments and expanding our current staff. In this way, we aim to play an important role in our students' reaching their career goals by providing advanced education opportunities in the field of nursing. Our graduates are trained to work in hospitals, family health centers, private health service institutions, schools, workplaces, elderly care institutions and home care services. Our graduates can also continue their professions independently by opening private health cabins.

Iğdır University Nursing Department offers its students nationally and internationally recognized education and research opportunities. Our graduates can continue their master's and doctoral programs at home and abroad and play an active role in education, research and health fields.

• Meets the health care needs of individuals, families and society using critical thinking skills and a holistic approach in line with professional ethical principles.
• Provides the necessary education and consultancy services to protect and improve the health of healthy individuals, patients and their families, and society, and to manage disease.
• Plans and implements nursing research regarding health protection, development, treatment and rehabilitation processes and participates in team research.
• Leads care in collaboration with colleagues and team members, using the science and principles of care management.
• Takes an active role in raising the status of the profession by acting in accordance with health legislation, professional ethical principles and institutional standards.
